Charles Murray says not everybody is cut out for a 4 yr college degree:
Barack Obama is ideally positioned to do it. He just needs to say it> over and over: "It's what you can do that should count when you apply> for a job, not where you learned to do it."> > http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/28/opinion/28murray.html
This notion that not everybody should be required to get a 4 yr degree to get a job is related to the education reform madness that the curriculum should be covering college level algebra, geometry and statistics as early as kindergarten, and students should be required to pass "standards-based" tests that most adults could not get a passing score on. The set theory with unions, intersections and venn diagrams now being given to 4th graders in READING assessments was introduced in the new math in the 60s only a few years before it was INVENTED in math research fields.
They say society should not be materialistic to judge you by how much stuff you have, then they say it's a require if some people have more education than others. They say you should judge education by outcomes, not inputs, then demand you spend more money, more classroom, days, more homework hours, and more parent time.
ARGH.
