MNLife You Know You Are In Minnesota When..
Every grocery store has mounds of salt in front of it
Every house out here has a water softener - which needs lots of salt to run
Farm Fleet display a hunting crows nest
What's it for? So you can shoot the deer that are poking around you corn fields. We don't need these in Seattle
You See Half Rusted Cars
I thought Boston used a lot of salt. Some pickups here are half rust. Hard to find any sub-$4000 used cars without any rust on them.
Your house has a laundry chute

Every house has a basement with egress windows
Hardware Stores Have Huge Snowblower Lineup in July
Every Mile You See A Buick Rendevous
OK, Ford escape is far more common here, but you don't see ANY of these in Seattle. Every 20 min drive in Rochester I drive by at least 6 of these things. Why? This was the not-so-ugly sister to the Pontiac Aztek, it was a cut-down crossover based on a minivan with AWD. It's a Buick (American made), it's cushy and it has 3 rows, other than that who knows? Now they have the Enclave, and the new Taurus/Freestyle/-based Ford Explorer is basically the same idea only less funny looking. In Seattle you'll see 5 Subarus in a row in most parking lots.
