Did Steven Powell Meet Josh On Sick Days And Know What Happened? Demons and Saints

How come it takes this long for investigators to notice that Steven Powell took two sick days the same time that Josh Powell disappeared in a rental car? It has long been speculated that it looks like Josh drove 400 miles to meet his father half-way, and that Steve must have coached Josh on the murder. Steven should have been named a person of interest as soon as it was known that he made a long phone call the day before, and put together with the odd relationship Steve had with Susan.

It's looking like someone in West Valley did not want to prosecute Josh or Steven, there is no other explanation why they would hide and ask to seal evidence that there was blood on the floor, and a letter addressed to her parents that should have been delivered that stated she believed the might be murdered and made to look like an accident. It is not credible that West Valley can still at this time believe it is only a missing persons and not a murder case. Josh should have been arrested immediately as there was more than enough evidence that week to convict him by a jury of peers since the entire internet and blogsphere was convinced of Josh's guilt within a week or so.

Almost every hunch has been proven to be true. Something is terribly wrong when the system is allowed to obviously use all possible disgression to let the obviously guilty go, as in the case of the Murder of Robert Eric Wone and the masterminds of Air India Flight 182. Not just West Valley, but the entire media treated Josh and his father with kid gloves in nationally televised interviews, but nobody outside the blogosphere would make any accusations until after the final murder of the entire family by Josh.

I just saw some comments on Seattle Times and SL Tribiune that point to a possible motive for not prosecuting Josh:

  • "After all, it's just another mouthy woman that got what she deserved" said an unnamed West Valley Utah town council member.
  • Joseph Smith Jr.:
  • If it was the other way around they would have arrested Susan. Utah is still culturally geared towards the husband and father is sacrosanct til proven otherwise; even little weasels like Josh Powell. Any other jurisdiction in America would have arrested him on the spot or had a grand jury indict him before the week was out; not Utah.
  • Robert Berube Unapologetic LDS | Pro-America "
  • What rubbish. They didn't have enough evidence to indict him. "

It looks like Berube is a hard-core conservative LDS who clearly supports Josh despite the obvious evidence, and it's likely the town leaders are thinking the same way. A LDS critic believes that town leaders take a dismissive approach towards charges of husband abuse of wives, though I can't find any evidence anybody actually said "mouthy woman that got what she deserved", but if true it would be amazing. Seattle people are shocked that West Valley didn't arrest him on the spot, but "josesph smith jr" blames it on bias towards the father.  To me, it looks like ex-LDS who look like monsters vs observant LDS who come out like angels, but this LDS cultural angle is something that needs to be explored, as an Asian American who knows that Asians have a lot of cultural foilables that often play in how we live our lives.

SEATTLE – Steven Powell, the father-in-law of missing Utah mother Susan Cox Powell, did not report to work in the two days after Susan disappeared in 2009, reports the Salt Lake City Tribune.
Those days coincide with the period that Susan’s husband, Josh Powell, rented a car and drove more than 800 miles before returning it.
A spokeswoman for the Washington Department of Corrections told the Tribune Steven sent an email to his supervisor asking for sick leave on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9, 2009. Steven was reportedly an account executive with Washington state Correctional Industries, selling furniture made by inmates.
West Valley City, Utah, police would not comment on Steven Powell’s absence from work, but said investigators “absolutely” believe Steven Powell may have had a role in Susan’s disappearance or death. That contradicts a statement by Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist, who said last week he does not believe Steven is linked to Susan's murder
