Man the 70s were EASY compared to you kids. And no disco today.
This thing got 80 hits in one hour, it was written by the same student who said to NOT list Asian on your application. I'd never recommend that but then back in the 70s, Asian actually helped if it made any difference at all - heck, MIT was "only" 5% Asian in 1976.

It’s a Hard Knock Life for Asian American Students
It’s that time of year again and no I am not referring to the winter holidays.
If you attend a high school or a university you can already guess what I am actually referring to—the dreaded semester finals.
It is that pesky, unavoidable week or two in which we have to devote our usual sleeping hours to study subjects we have procrastinated to learn about up until now when our fate in class is decided upon.
As a college student myself, I have been studying for hours these past two weeks along with our fellow readers at my school library.
But have you ever noticed the lack of studying that actually goes on in the library? Personally, there is no finger pointing here. Most of the time last week I found myself daydreaming, scrolling down the endless statuses posted on Facebook or “hearting” posts on my personal Tumblr when I should have been working on my presentation.
I have to admit, the most popular activity I caught my fellow classmates doing seemed a lot more tempting—sleeping.
I guess I am not the only one that acknowledges my sleeping colleagues. While I was procrastinating on my personal Tumblr I came across an entire site dedicated to Asians sleeping in the library.
It is a site that posts pictures of Asian students sleeping in their school libraries.
The creator had this introduction posted on the homepage of the website:
CREATED BY A HANDSOME JEW WHO ALSO LIKES TO SLEEP IN LIBRARIES. THIS BLOG IS NOT MEANT TO BE DISCRIMINATORY, MEAN SPIRITED OR MALICIOUS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. IT IS MEANT TO CELEBRATE, NOT BERATE, THE HARDEST WORKERS AT OUR UNIVERSITIES.
NYU, UC Berkley, UC Davis, Johns Hopkins University are just a handful of schools where Asians are pictured taking a quick snooze out of their hectic study schedule.
Although this website was created to make light of the prominent number of Asian students sleeping in classrooms and libraries; Asians are typecast as extremely intelligent and we will go to great lengths in order to please our stern, commanding parents IE Mike Chang on Glee.
But in a lot of ways this typecast is a reality for Asian Americans. Just a few days ago I wrote a Daily Dose about how Asian Americans, who were prospective University students to elite schools, omitted the Asian check box and only marked their other race.
The competition for Asians to receive acceptance into elite universities has heightened to a newest peak. After all, Asians are becoming the majority in schools—UC Berkeley’s student population is made up of 40% Asians.
It has become necessary for prospective Asian American students to study harder than ever before just to have equal opportunity to receive enrollment into their dream school.
But there really is no denying that all students deserve some time to take a nap in order to rejuvenate before rushing to study for that final in a few hours to bump up their grades. Simply beware—if you fall asleep in public there is an opportunity a snapshot of you sleeping can be the new most “hearted” post on Tumblr.
